In Depth Look: The X-Men Revealed!

Everyone's favorite team of mutant ass kickers are ready to hit the big screen but oh my god, what's a mutant to wear? We've got the X-Men in costume for you to see, and did we mention that Mystique will be totally nude in the movie, except her naughty parts will not be there, wow thats gotta hurt. In honor of this announcement, I will be attending the premier totally nude, bearing my X chromosome for all to see. Take a look (at the pictures, not me) and then let us know what you think in the message boards.

Tom DeSanto, executive producer/writer of the X-Men movie, said that changes were made from the characters' comic-book costumes to make the movie costumes more realistic. "It's the process of translating two-dimensional comic book images into real life and when you take the yellow-and-blue Wolverine costume and try to create that and put it on a man, it looks ridiculous. "What we've done is taken elements from the costume and made it real. It comes across as real. It looks like it's actually functional and not clowny in any way. -Read more

The Bookshelf: Extremities

List Price:$13.95 Our Price: $11.16 You Save: $2.79 (20%)
In the hypnotic, psychological landscape of Extremities, people pushed to the limits of endurance enter extreme states of mind and being. These stories shine an eerie light on the netherworld of artistic exploration and insanity; they probe obsession and vengeance and wander along the intersecting paths of the living and the dead. Frequently Koja's characters are betrayed by imagination - artists enslaved by their muses, women dominated by fantasy lovers, ordinary men bewitched by inner voices or inexplicably endowed with powers they cannot control. Koja's language is gorgeously descriptive: every sense is exquisitely evoked.

Rumors and Gossip

Warner Brothers has decided to push the release date for Red Planet back to November 10th, as opposed to it's original June 16th date. WB publicist Charlotte Kandel explained the move, saying, "Itís a very big movie for us, so we want to make sure we release when itís ready and at the right time. We think itís a great film for the holiday season." Kandel also told the trade that the June release date was always considered tentative due to the filmís extensive special effects needs.

" Bruiser is the story of a man who has always tried to fit in. He keeps his mouth shut, follows the rules, does what he's supposed to do. But one morning, he wakes up to find ...his face is gone. All the years of acquiescence have cost him the one thing he can't replace. His identity. Now he's a blank, outside as well as in, an anonymous, featureless phantom. He explodes. Bent on revenge, he sets out to murder the people who have done him wrong. The wife who has been cheating on him for years. The best friend who has been robbing him blind. The boss who has treated him like dirt. " The official website for George Romero's next project is now online, a teaser trailer, the movie poster, and several production goodies can be found there.

On the Spider Man front a few intersting rumors have surfaced after the official signing of Sam Raimi to direct the film. Apparently there are three front runners to play the part of everyone's favorite web slinger, the three strongest candidates at this time are Leonardo DiCaprio, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jude Law. Furthermore, all three are said to have expressed interest in the project previously. Another intersting rumor out there right now is that Liam Neeson has signed on to play the part of the Green Goblin for 6 million, but considering that the Goblin does not make an appearance in the original script, this is probably just a rumor.

The Diabolical Dominion got their hands on some Resident Evil news, which may now start production by the end of the year. According to Jamie Blanks, the Austrialian director of Urban Legend, the movie will occur in the near future where a corporation known as Umbrella has created an incurable disease that they plan to unleash on the world so that they can profit from their high priced vaccine. Things get out of hand and innocent people are turned into blood thirsty zombies out of the companies control. A group of police are called in to deal with the problem and ta-da, one Resident Evil movie coming right up.

Tim Burton will make his internet debut with a series of short movies produced for Shockwave.com featuring his character Stain Boy previously found in Burton's sketch and poetry book 'The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories' so keep your eyes open. Before I found out that the dinosaurs in Disney's Dinosaur CGI film could talk, I was beyond pumped about it. Now that these images have hit the net, I can once again feel the saliva forming and I may be able to overlook their capacity for speech, click on the thumbs to see larger images. The story follows a dinosaur egg that is adopted by a family of monkeys, but when a meteor hits, the dinosaur is reunited with his own kind and must use the skills and wisdom learned from the primates to save his friends.

In a recent interview on Space.com, Pitch Blackís special effects creature maker John Cox (Babe) spoke a bit about the alien lifeforms encountered in the movie. Cox talked of the challenges of creating very hungry living creatures that come out only during their home planetís 60-year cycle of darkness. Cox explains, "These aliens don't have a natural vicious streak, they're just animals who're hungry. If one of their own kind gets in the way, even they'll be up for dinnerÖ We had to think through all the evolutionary and physiologic concerns these creatures would need to establish their niche and survive on such a planetÖ There were some design changes we had to make to the creatures because evolution wouldn't have allowed it."

Clivebarker.com reports that there will be a movie based on Clive's early anthology novel, The Books of Blood. The project is another collaboration with Clive and Bill (Candyman 2) Condon. Bill wrote the screenplay and will direct the wraparound tale. Three first-time directors have been hired to adapt ig Blood Blues, Human Remains , and Dread for this big budget flick. The three director/writers are Keith Clark, Jack Morrissey, and Christopher Landon. The project is currently in pre-production.

Fox has given the greenlight for a Lone Gunmen pilot episode based on the popular characters from the hit series The X-Files. Plans are for the program to be a light drama in keeping with the trioís comic appearances on X-Files. Though the script for the pilot is as yet only in outline form, plans are to introduce a new character to the mix: a competing and very attractive female conspiracy theorist, this according to the Hollywood Reporter.
