Rumors and Gossip

IGN Movies has the first exclusive trailer from Ridley Scott's 'Gladiator' movie which stars Russell Crowe ('The Insider'), Joaquin Phoenix ('8mm') and Richard Harris ('Unforgiven'). The story follows a wrongly enslaved gladiator, as he battles his way to hero status to eventually face the man who has enslaved him.

The offiicial X-Men movie site is now open for business (but still under construction), you can supply them with your e-mail address to receive notification of it's official opening. A teaser poster has also been spotted, a metal X-Men symbol standing slighly open in the center like a double door. Rumor has it that the door will gradually open over the next few months until you can see the full X-Men team, we will of course keep you updated. I also heard that there may be a teaser trailer attached to Galaxy Quest, if anyone can confirm this for me it would be greatly appreciated.

There is a rumor out there right now that Jodie Foster has decided not to join up with Anthony Hopkins in the next Hannibal film. This means we may see our favorite red head FBI agent, Gillian Anderson in the lead role, apparently her name has been brought up, along with a few other contenders to play the part. Jodie Foster has opted to direct a film entitled 'Flora Plum' which will star Claire Danes, and has a time schedule that conflicts with the filming of 'Hannibal'.

The NY Post reports that Ben Afleck is closing to signing a deal to portray Batman in the next movie for about $15 million dollars. But rumor has it that before Affleck will sign, girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow must agree to play Catwoman. Paltrow is, as always, in heavy demand, and apparently undecided about playing the role.

It has long been an internet rumor that a Hellboy movie will someday make it's way onto the big screen, but for now developers at Dark Horse Interactive, and Cryo Interactive are working on a Hellboy game adaptation for the PC and playstation. A couple of screen shots have been released recently, click on the thumb nails for larger views.

The new Anthony Hopkins movie 'Titus' which is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Titus Andronicus', tells the story of treachery and deceit within the Roman Empire. Visit the official site to read a complete synopsis, and be sure to download the trailer.

If you are like me, at some point you have visited a fan site that has been shut down by Fox on the grounds of copyright infringement. So, in a voice of organized protest, at least 70 sites will launch what has been dubbed "The Strike Back Against Fox" campaign, a one day web blackout to show the studios how much free publicity they loose without them. Fox may not blink an eye, but at least there are people voicing their opinions out there.
